ELLSINORE — Kasen McCarty and Hunter Croy each scored 15 points and teammate Micah Thompson added 14 as the East Carter Redbirds defeated Eminence Redwings 62-58 here Tuesday night.

The game was neck-and-neck throughout, but East Carter's strong offensive efforts gave them the edge they needed to come out on top.

“We really needed a win after losing five in a row and we played just good enough to pull it out tonight,” said East Carter head coach Jordan Penn. “We played a good third quarter, outscoring them by 12, to give us some cushion down the stretch and we were able to hold on.

Van Buren 73, Koshkonong 68

At Koshkonong, the visiting Bulldogs rallied in the second half to defeat the host Bluejays.

Benjamin Hawkins led the way for the Bulldogs with 22 points, while Elijah VanWagner added 19 of his own.

“I love that we accepted adversity and we just played,” said Van Buren head coach Jacob Black. “It really shows that we’ve grown as a team from the beginning to now.”

Kaden Burgess paced Koshkonong with 34 points.

Woodland 86, Puxico 68

At Puxico, the host Indians couldn't keep up with Woodland.

“We had a hard time guarding the tonight” said Puxico head coach Bryan Fernetti. “Woodland is a good team. They deserve all the credit.”

Jayden Mitchell led the charge for Puxico with 16 points, closely followed by Thomas Burch with 14.

Campbell 56, Delta C7 52

At Campbell, the host Camels edged out Delta C7 in a close contest on senior night.

“I thought our kids played really hard and competed,” said Campbell head coach Steve Fowler. “It was senior night and I thought our seniors set the tone early. I was glad we were able to pull out a win on their last home game.”

Sam Bunting led the Camels with 13 points, closely followed by Drew Fowler with nine.

South Pemiscot 67, Clarkton 66

At Clarkton, the host Reindeer came up just short despite an impressive performance from Clarkton's Owen Morgan, who put up 39 points.

“We played a good team down to the wire,” said Clarkton head coach Cole McBroom. “It was a good learning moment for our team.”

Amauri Gorman and Bryant Redden contributed 10 points each for Clarkton.

Girls

Twin Rivers 50, NMCC 20

At Broseley, the host Lady Royals claimed a decisive victory over the New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles.

“It was overall a very good effort offensively and defensively for us,” said Twin Rivers head coach David Crockett. “We really talked on defense and moved the ball well on offense.”

Amelia Douglas led the way for Twin Rivers with 12 points and six rebounds, followed by Anne Mittlestatt with 11 points.

East Carter 70, Naylor 25

At Ellsinore, the Lady Redbirds rolled past the visiting Naylor Lady Eagles.

“We played much better defensively tonight,” said East Carter head coach Angela Rogers. “We shared the ball well and made the extra pass.”

Breanna Dohleman led the charge for East Carter with 24 points, while Parker Golden and Brooklyn Kearby added 17 and 15, respectively.

Harley Sullivan led Naylor with nine points.

“East Carter is a very good team,” said Naylor head coach Logan Foster. “We turned it over too much and gave up too many offensive rebounds. Good luck to East Carter in their district tournament.”

Van Buren 73, Koshkonong 42

At Van Buren, the host Lady Dawgs got the big win over the Koshkonong Lady Bluejays

“It was a great team game,” Van Buren coach Torrie Ricker said. Everyone got in and we put up some great shots. It' s a win for us and I think it would be a win in any coaches book,”

Ella Wilbanks led the Lady Dawgs with 22 points, while Madison Mabry added 11.
