DETROIT -- Pavel Datsyuk wanted to pass the puck, but it rolled on him and he couldn't. So he took a shot and it went in.
His goal 3:23 into overtime completed a comeback from a three-goal deficit and gave the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Datsyuk picked up a loose puck in his own zone and skated the length of the ice on a 2-on-1 with Nicklas Lidstrom and beat Blues goalie Jason Bacashihua with a wrist shot from the right circle.
"First I wanted to pass it to Nick, but it started rolling," said Datsyuk, who scored his second goal in two games. So I changed my mind and I shot."
Lidstrom had a goal and an assist, and Jason Williams and Dan Cleary also scored for Detroit. Dominik Hasek made 18 saves.
Petr Cajanek scored twice and Dallas Drake also had a goal for St. Louis, which lost its sixth straight.
