Oak Ridge held the early lead, ahead by as many as nine points in the second quarter, but Chaffee managed to tie the game 30-30 by halftime. The Red Devils held a 14-8 scoring edge in the third quarter for a 44-38 lead and outscored the Bluejays down the stretch.

Darren Hahs led Oak Ridge with 12 points and Eric Hobeck added 10.

Bell City 81, Meadow Heights 48

BELL CITY -- Bell City rolled out to a 25-8 lead in the opening quarter as it kept Meadow Heights winless on the season.

Four players found double-figure scoring for Bell City (3-8): Jarrod Eftink 21, Gabe Scherer 20, Glenn Adams 16, and Nathan Walter 13.

"It was our homecoming and the boys came out fired up," said Bell City coach Jeff Funston.

Mike Payne netted 11 points for Meadow Heights and Troy Hays added 10.

Woodland 77, Zalma 46

MARBLE HILL -- Woodland bombed home 11 3-point baskets as the Cardinals rolled to an easy victory.

David Massa hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points to pace the Cardinals (9-3). Ryan Bandermann added 15 points and Matt Cutsinger contributed 12.

Zalma got 21 points from Tim Burchett but no other Bulldog scored more than six.

"They were kind of giving us the outside shot so we took it and were able to knock several down," said Woodland coach Jennings Wilkinson.

Delta 72, East Prairie 56

EAST PRAIRIE -- Josh Altenthal poured hit five 3-pointers and poured in 32 points to lead Delta.

The Bobcats (4-6) also got 19 points from Ryan Livingston.

Delta used a 28-16 edge in the fourth quarter to finally put the Eagles away.

Grandview 76, St. Vincent 58

HILLSBORO -- St. Vincent, leading 34-33 at halftime, was outscored 43-24 in the second half as the Indians went down to defeat.

The Indians (7-3) were led by Ryan Prost with 19 points and Justin Amschler with 12.

"We played a decent first half but the bottom fell out in the second half," said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jackson 78, Oakville 36

JACKSON -- Jackson opened up a 30-2 lead after one quarter as the Lady Indians crushed Oakville.

The Lady Indians (8-1) were led by Cherish Tillman with 15 points. Also in double figures were Andrea Koeper with 13, Melissa Palmer with 11 and Danna Littlepage with 10.

"We really dominated the first quarter," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "We were able to play 12 people, which was good."

BOYS SWIMMING

Cape Central wins triangular

WEBSTER GROVES -- Cape Central dipped into competitive waters for the first time in a month and came away with an impressive win over Eureka and Webster Groves Friday.

Behind eight first-place finishes, Central totaled 142 points, followed by Eureka, 120, and Webster Groves, 31.

"We were definitely ready to do some swimming," said Central coach Dayna Powell.

Cape Central's Jason Owen placed first in the 200 IM (2:03.81) and 500 freestyle (4:58/91), while teammate Eric Yount touched the wall first in the 50 (29.6) and 100 (51.66) freestyle. Zach Roberts won the 100 butterfly (1:00.67) and Ben Roeger captured the 100 backstroke (59.84). Central also won the 200 medley relay in a season-best time of 1:47.34. The squad was comprised of Roeger, Roberts, Owen and Yount. The 400 freestyle relay (3:39.04), which consisted of Stratton Tingle, Roeger, Owen and Yount, also won.

Central returns to action Tuesday at Oakville.
