Red Devils improve to 2-0 with 31-14 win

FESTUS -- Peyton Montgomery rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another as visiting Chaffee downed St. Pius X 31-14 in high school football action Friday night.

Jimmy Golden rushed 12 times for 110 yards and was on the other end of Montgomery's touchdown throw, a 16-yarder with 2 minutes, 41 seconds left in the second period that pushed Chaffee's lead to 18-0 at halftime.

Charlie Montgomery rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries and scored twice for the Red Devils [2-0].

Peyton Montgomery added 69 yards on eight carries while completing 6 of 11 passes for 72 yards and the one score.

Charlie Montgtomery scored on runs of 6 and 4 yards, while Peyton Montgomery's 39-yard touchdown jaunt closed out the scoring.

For the game, Chaffee outgained St. Pius 444-222 in total yards. The Red Devils rushed for 372 yards.

Chaffee visits Hayti on Friday.
