KELSO, Mo. -- The 19th annual Kelso Klassic fast-pitch softball tournament has been called off because of bad weather, and it's tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 1 to 3.
"We don't have anything rock solid yet. There's a lot that goes into this," tournament director Rick Heuring said Wednesday.
The 14-team tournament that was to be played this weekend at Kelso City Park likely will feature the same teams from three different states, Heuring said.
Kelso will feature three entries: The Connection, Kelso Fastpitch and Kelso Supply. The remainder of the field will include teams from Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee: Guaranteed Air Freight (Vandalia, Ill.), Nokomis Bud Light (Nokomis, Ill.), Wolfpack (Belleville, Ill.), Memphis (Tenn.) Dawgs, T-Town KC (Teutopolis, Ill.), Memphis Po-Men, Lee's Sports Falcons (Radom, Ill.), Memphis Posse, Eager Beavers (Belleville, Ill.), Elkville Ward's Chrysler (Elkville, Ill.) and Black Gold Fast-pitch (Hermann, Mo.).
"Hopefully monsoon season will be over by August," Heuring said.
In last year's championship game, St. Louis Lafayette Pub defeated Nokomis Bud Light 1-0. Lafayette Pub had a previous commitment and is not in this year's field.
