Rain washes out district 14 play

Cape Girardeau and Sikeston will meet at 5 p.m. today for a berth in the American Legion Zone 4 tournament.

The two teams were to play Friday night in Senath, Mo., in the American Legion District 14 Tournament losers bracket final, but rain washed out the contest.

Jackson awaits the winner in the championship round, scheduled for 30 minutes following the Cape-Sikeston game, with an if necessary game to be played at a yet to be dertmined time on Sunday.

Since Jackson is the host for the five-team zone tournament slated for July 28 through 31, another team from District 14 will earn a berth in the zone tournament.
