Second-seeded Saxony Lutheran had its boys basketball season come to halt at the hands of No. 3 Puxico 66-53 in semifinal action Tuesday at the Class 2 District 3 tournament in Chaffee.
Saxony Lutheran committed 32 fouls, which in turn led to a 38 for 51 shooting performance from the free throw line by Puxico. Alex Jauch led the Crusaders with 23 points, and Clay Obergoenner netted 10.
Puxico will face No. 1 Advance Thursday night for the championship.
Alex Steil led No. 1 Advance with 28 points in a 62-36 rout over No. 5 St. Vincent. The Hornets jumped out to a 37-14 haltime lead and never looked back. David VanGennip and Rusty Hendricks added nine points apiece.
Chris Wengert led St. Vincent with 16 points.

The host Eagles got 22 points from Kody Campbell and 16 apiece from Robert Lange and Chase Seyer.
The Eagles will face No. 1 Scott County Central in the finals. Scott County routed Cooter 89-60.
Drew Thomas led the state-ranked Braves with 31 points. Caleb Johnson had 25 points, and DD Gillespie had 16.
