Of the 10 players to reach 3,000 hits since entering the major leagues in 1970, Pujols is the third-fastest player to reach 1,000 hits in terms of games played. Wade Boggs was the fastest at 747 games, followed by Tony Gwynn at 783.

Pujols, 26, leads the major leagues with 11 homers and 26 RBIs through Saturday. He has set a franchise record for April, eclipsing the previous mark of 10 by Mark McGwire in his 70-homer season in 1998.

Earlier this week, Pujols tied a major league record when he homered in his fourth consecutive at-bat.

For his career through Saturday, he has 1,002 hits and 212 home runs.
