ESSEX — The Puxico Indians took down the Richland Rebels in a dominant display of basketball on Friday, taking the big 77-45 road win.
In other boys action Friday, Eminence rallied past Ellington 69-66.
Duncan Crabb was a standout performer for Puxico, leading the team with 15 points. He was followed closely by Skylar Zimmerman with 14 points and Jayden Mitchell and Thomas Burtch with 13 each as the Indians’ balanced scoring attack was too much for the Rebels to handle.
“We played a very good team game with five guys in double figures,” said Puxico coach Bryant Fernetti. “We shot the ball very well.”
Eric Williams paced Richland with 15 points while Hunter Sanders added 14.
Alton 58, Van Buren 47
At Alton, the visiting Bulldogs came up short against the Comets.
“The score doesn’t tell the story (of the game),” Van Buren coach Jacob Black said. “I was proud how we competed and we had just a few mistakes in key spots that hurt us. We struggled from the free throw line but there is a lot of positives we can take from this game. I’m excited with the direction we are going and hope we continue to find our groove at districts.”
