Chaffee had two touchdowns called back on penalties, one late in the first half and the other on the opening drive of the third quarter.

The Red Devils made one final mistake as Scherer intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Portageville finished with 264 yards rushing on 37 rushing attempts. The Bulldogs completed just one of six pass attempts for three yards and had one pass intercepted.

Chaffee finished with 117 yards rushing on 44 attempts. Tommy Stidham led the way with 24 carries for 70 yards. Travis Hanback added 46 yards on eight attempts.

Quarterback Matt Graham completed 3 of 11 passes for 39 yards and was intercepted once.

"Defensively we played a pretty good game," said Horrell. "We held them to one touchdown. You have to give a team credit for taking advantage of our mistakes."
