BENTON -- The Cape GMC-Pontiac women's softball team needed just 10 innings to sweep both games Wednesday from the Perryville Lightning.
Both games -- the home openers for the Cape GMC-Pontiac team -- went just five innings; it was a 9-0 opener, followed by an 11-0 finish.
In the first game, Jessica Silbe pitched the win with no hits and four strikeouts. Lisa Foster was 3-for-3 with two RBI; Kim Palmer was 2-for-3; and Julie Swartz was 1-for-2 with an in-the-park, two-run homer that ended the game.
Dana Scott pitched the second win, giving up two hits and striking out three. Palmer was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple; Kara Heuring was 2-for-4; Carrie Robert 2-for-3 (two RBI) and Scott 2-for-3 (two RBI).
Cape GMC-Pontiac is 6-2 and hosts Jackson at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Benton City Park.
