Pitchers Matt Stroup, Jon Nourie and Josh Parham combined for 17 strikeouts to lead the Plaza Tire Capahas to a 7-2 victory against Williamson County, Ill., on Wednesday night in Illinois.
Stroup, the starter and winning pitcher, whiffed seven hitters over five innings while allowing just one hit -- a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Nourie, in his second appearance while recovering from arm injury that kept him from pitching for Southeast Missouri State this spring, struck out four and allowed one hit in two innings. He also walked one.
Parham struck out six hitters in the final two innings and allowed an unearned run. Two errors by Plaza Tire in the ninth inning contributed to the two runs for Williamson County.
The Capahas (19-7) were led on offense by Robbie Moore, Lance Seasor and Levi Olson.
Moore had two hits, including a two-run home run; Seasor was 4-for-4 with one RBI; and Olson had a two-run basehit in the fifth inning.
Josh Eftink also had an RBI.
The Capahas play the Riverdogs 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Capaha Field.
