CLEVELAND -- Rookie Jason Phillips got his first major league victory, taking a shutout into the eighth inning Monday night to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 7-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Making just his second big league start and first at Jacobs Field, Phillips (1-1) allowed seven hits in 7 2-3 innings. He walked three, struck out two and got 14 outs on grounders.
Ricky Gutierrez hit a three-run homer as the Indians improved to 3-2 for interim manager Joel Skinner.
Bill Selby had two RBIs and Omar Vizquel homered off Gary Glover (3-5).
Twins 10, Angels 8
MINNEAPOLIS -- Cristian Guzman hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning, capping Minnesota's comeback from a six-run deficit and giving the Twins a victory over Anaheim.
Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer in the seventh against Scott Schoeneweis (7-7) to bring the Twins within a run.
In the eighth, Schoeneweis gave up two-out singles to Luis Rivas and pinch-hitter Bobby Kielty before Guzman homered deep into the left-field seats.
Blue Jays 8, Yankees 5
TORONTO -- Chris Woodward homered and the Toronto held on for its fourth straight win, a heated victory over the New York Yankees.
Yankees starter Orlando Hernandez (5-3) was ejected in the seventh inning after hitting Carlos Delgado with a pitch.
Three pitches earlier, Hernandez threw behind Delgado. The Blue Jays slugger took a step toward the mound and screamed at Hernandez. Yankees manager Joe Torre also was tossed.
Toronto starter Steve Parris (2-2) hit Jason Giambi and Chris Widger early in the game.
Blue Jays reliever Corey Thurman threw over the head of Widger and Derek Jeter in the sixth. Scott Cassidy almost hit Jeter with a pitch in the eighth.
Kelvim Escobar pitched the ninth for his 15th save.
Tigers 4, Red Sox 3
DETROIT -- Brandon Inge's infield single in the 11th inning lifted Detroit over Boston. The Red Sox tied a season high with their fourth straight loss.
Inge had his first career four-RBI game. He broke an 0-for-15 slump by hitting a two-run homer in the seventh, and tied it at 3 with a sacrifice fly off Ugueth Urbina in the ninth.
Oscar Henriquez (1-0) picked up his first major league win by pitching the 11th.
Athletics 4, Devil Rays 0
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Ted Lilly did not allow a hit for 4 2-3 innings in his Oakland debut as the Athletics beat Tampa Bay.
Lilly was acquired from the New York Yankees on July 5 as part of a three-team, seven-player trade. It was his first appearance since taking the loss June 29 when the left-hander allowed six runs over four innings in a loss to the New York Mets.
Lilly (4-6), who pitched a one-hitter and a three-hitter this season for the Yankees, didn't allow a hit until John Flaherty singled to left with two outs in the fifth inning. He left after the first two batters reached in the sixth.
Orioles 6, Mariners 5
BALTIMORE -- Mike Bordick had three hits, including a three-run homer, as Baltimore rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Seattle.
Bordick tied his season high with three hits and lifted his batting average nine points to .242 as he extended his run of errorless games to 73.
Sidney Ponson (4-4) allowed four earned runs in 6 2-3 innings to break a string of five straight no-decisions and claim his first victory since May 23.
Royals 8, Rangers 6
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Raul Ibanez hit a bases-loaded triple, helping Shawn Sedlacek earn his first major league victory as Kansas City beat Texas in the first game of a doubleheader.
Ibanez, who drove in seven runs Sunday, set a Royals record with 10 RBIs in two games. His triple highlighted a four-run first inning.
