The Plaza Tire Capahas, fresh off winning their sixth straight National Baseball Congress Mid-South Regional title, came back down to earth with a thud.

Perryville's first-year team, the Longhorns, stunned the visiting Capahas 3-2 on Tuesday night.

The Capahas, who swept to the regional championship over the weekend, are 19-9. They won 8-1 at Perryville on June 24, although that game was tight until late.

"I guess there was a hangover from the weekend. We just didn't hit the ball," Capahas manager Jess Bolen said. "But I don't want to take anything away from them. Their kid threw a good ballgame against us."

Neither squad produced much offense as the Capahas, held hitless through six innings, had four hits. The Longhorns had three hits.

Perryville took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Sean Bard's seventh-inning home run, the Capahas' first hit, forged a 1-1 tie.

The Capahas went ahead 2-1 in the ninth inning. Daryl Graham doubled with one out and scored on Bard's double.

With Josh Parham trying to close out the victory for the Capahas, he walked the leadoff batter in the bottom of the ninth.

A one-out single and a throwing error left runners on second and third. The Longhorns then came up with a two-run walk-off single to left field.

Cody Hafeli started for the Capahas and pitched three perfect innings.

Dustin Hunter allowed a run in three innings. Kirk Boeller and Jacob Wente both worked one scoreless frame before Parham took the loss.

The Capahas are back in action tonight at Waterloo, Ill.
