HILLSBORO, Mo. -- Perryville's girls basketball team evened its overall record by opening its Jefferson County Conference season with a 48-28 victory over St. Pius Thursday night.

Perryville improved to 7-7 and 1-0 in conference play.

April Lorenz led Perryville with 17 points, including two 3-pointers, despite breaking a finger on her non-shooting hand in Wednesday's loss to Notre Dame. The sophomore was the only Lady Pirate to finish in double figures.

"She had her hand wrapped so tight I guess they figured she couldn't score," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann.

St. Pius took an 8-5 lead into the second quarter, but managed just two points in the second period. Perryville took a 19-10 advantage into halftime and a 35-19 lead into the fourth quarter.

FESTUS 62, ST. VINCENT 32

FESTUS, Mo. -- Ashley Williams scored 24 points, including five 3-point baskets, as Festus cruised past St. Vincent in Jefferson County Conference action.

"She's just a good ball player," said St. Vincent coach Terry Wengert. "She's pretty hard to hold down and has a good supporting cast."

Festus took a 19-10 lead into the second quarter and a comfortable 40-17 advantage into halftime.

Nicole Hadler paced St. Vincent (5-4) with 10 points.

SCOTT CITY 55, WOODLAND 16

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Loren Groves scored 21 points as Scott City trounced the Lady Cardinals.

Scott City jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first quarter and led Woodland (4-6) 33-8 at halftime.

Kristen Schaefer added 10 points for Scott City.
