Parkway West, ranked No. 8 in Class 4A, pulled away late to a 43-34 victory over Cape Central Saturday in girls basketball action.

Parkway West put the game away in the fourth quarter with frequent trips to the foul line after several quick misses by the Lady Tigers.

Cape Central made a run late in the second quarter to tie the game at 16 at halftime. But the Lady Tigers couldn't recover from a poor 2-minute span early in the third quarter.

Kim Aslinger and Dionna Webb paced Central with nine points apiece.

"They have a very good team," Central coach Darrick Smith said. "They took very good care of the ball in the fourth quarter. The thing for us, though, was turnovers. We turned the ball over 24 times and they didn't press us or anything."

Central's junior varsity team won 42-20.
