They were recognized for their performances last weekend in California, with Colbert and Koenegstein qualifying for the NCAA regional at the Mt. Sac Relays, while Brewer met her NCAA regional mark at both Mt. Sac and Long Beach State.

Colbert threw the discus 177 feet, 2 inches at Mt. Sac for the top throw in the OVC this season and one of the best in Southeast history.

Brewer qualified in the discus with a throw of 157 feet at Mt. Sac before throwing even further the next day at Long Beach State with a personal best of 158-1, tops in the OVC this season and among the best in school history.

Koenegstein ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school-record time of 10 minutes, 34.38 seconds, best in the OVC this season.

Softball at home

The Southeast softball team will try to continue its climb up the OVC standings and also extend its winning streak with a home conference series this weekend.

Southeast faces Eastern Kentucky in a 1 p.m. doubleheader today and a 1 p.m. contest Sunday.

The Redhawks swept Thursday's doubleheader at Eastern Illinois to push their winning streak to eight. They have moved about .500 overall at 20-19 and have climbed into a third-place OVC tie at 9-8.

Eastern Kentucky (16-20, 7-8) is seventh in the nine-team league, but even in the loss column with Southeast.

Today's action will feature youngsters allowed to run the bases between the two games, along with free hot dogs and soda provided by River Eagle Distributing.

It will be senior day Sunday as the Redhawks honor their lone senior, Lauren Bradley, prior to the contest.
