CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Southeast Missouri State University's softball team dropped the opener of an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader to Eastern Illinois 3-1 Thursday, but the Otahks won the second game 3-0.

In the first game, Southeast managed only three hits -- including an RBI double by Kemi Rampi in the third inning -- as Eastern won just its fifth game of the year and second in OVC action.

Eastern Illinois (5-20, 2-6 OVC) scored one run in the first and two in the second as Southeast hurler Jenny Doehring dropped to 8-7. She went six innings and allowed three runs on five hits and two walks. She struck out seven.

Eastern's Kristen Becker picked up the win. She allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks while fanning two.

In the second game, Southeast (10-15, 4-3 OVC) scored two runs in the third and one in the sixth behind a five-hit shutout by Kristen King. King (3-8) walked three and struck out four.

Rampi, who has a nine-game hitting streak, and Doehring each went 2-for-3 for the Otahkians, while Courtney Eklund went 2-for-4. Doehring and Renee Enos both had an RBI.

Trish Sanders suffered the loss. She allowed three runs, two earned, on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four.
