After a three-week layoff, the Southeast Missouri State University Otahkians return to the court tonight when Eastern Kentucky visits the Show Me Center.
The Otahkians will be seeking to regain the momentum they took into the Christmas break. Southeast, which won just eight games all of last season, owns a five-game winning streak and a 7-2 mark overall.
Included in the five-game streak are road wins over OVC opponents Tennessee State and Austin Peay which have the Otahkians tied atop the league standings with Tennessee-Martin at 2-0.
Eastern Kentucky, a perennial OVC power, enters the 7 p.m. contest with a 4-5 mark overall and 1-1 conference record.
Forward Charlotte Sizemore leads Eastern in scoring with 15.2 points per game. Guard Marla Gearhart is also averaging in double figures at 14.2.
The Otahkians have three players averaging in double-figure scoring. Junior college transfer Paula Corder, a junior forward, leads the list at 14.8 points per game. Freshman center Pam Iverson, who is a perfect 24-for-24 at the free-throw line this year, follows at 12.0 and guard Rusty Sowers averages 10.8.
Iverson also leads Southeast in rebounding with 8.4 boards per game.
Today's game is the first of four OVC games in eight days for Southeast.
After Eastern, the Otahkians will play host to Morehead State on Monday before traveling to Middle Tennessee on Thursday and Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
