MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Southeast Missouri State University women's track team ran away with the Ohio Valley Conference outdoor title, finishing 25 points ahead of second place Middle Tennessee.

Southeast scored 136 points to lead the 10-team field and was followed by MTSU with 111 and Eastern Illinois with 110.

Eastern Illinois won the eight-team men's competition with 222 points as Southeast placed fifth. MTSU took second, Eastern Kentucky was third with 96 1/2, Murray State was fourth with 93 and Southeast followed with 92.

Junior Heather Keltner led the way for Southeast with a win in the 400, a second-place finish in the 200 and as a member of the winning 4x100 relay team and the second-place 4x400 relay team.

The winning 4x100 relay team of Keltner, Natalie Talley, Shauna Birge and Kim Stewart finished with a time of 45.40. The 4x400 team of Keltner, Talley, Stewart and Heather Stuckenschneider finished in 3:41.13.

Lutricia Purham was also a double winner for Southeast with a victory in the discus on Saturday after winning the shot put on Friday.

The Otahkians had a very balanced effort with Birge and Talley finishing third and fourth in the 100. Keltner and Birge took second and third in the 200 and in the 400, Kelter took first, Stuckenshneider took third and Stewart took fifth.

In the distance events, Amy Arteme was second in the 5,000 with Jennifer Brown seventh. In the 3,000, Arteme was fifth while Jessie Thompson and Leslie McNamara took sixth and seventh.

The Southeast men got an individual championship from Collin Sheridan in the pole vault and a second place finish for Brandon Myer in the discus. Myer won the shot put on Friday.
