ST. LOUIS -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball broke a three-match losing streak Friday by picking up two victories in the 7-Up Billiken Invitational hosted by St. Louis University.
The Otahkians slipped past Arkansas State 9-15, 15-12, 15-12, 13-15, 15-11 and then defeated George Washington 15-6, 7-15, 16-14, 15-12.
Southeast (6-4) will wrap up the five-team, round-robin tournament today with two more matches, playing East Tennessee State at 10 a.m. and host St. Louis at 2 p.m.
Setter Tuba Meto, last year's Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, led the way Friday with a pair of triple-double performances as she reached double figures in kills, assists and digs during both matches.
Meto had 13 kills, 59 assists and 11 digs against Arkansas State, then came back with 14 kills, 48 assists and 11 digs against George Washington.
Jackie Derwort led the offense against Arkansas State with 21 kills to go along with 13 digs. Angie Aschoff added 16 kills while Krista Haukap had nine kills and 11 digs.
Against George Washington, Derwort again paced the offense with 17 kills and she also had 14 digs. Haukap had 13 kills while Aschoff added 11.
