CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State University and host Austin Peay split an Ohio Valley Conference softball doubleheader Saturday, the Otahkians winning the opener 5-0 and losing the finale 2-1.
The Otahkians are 7-18 overall and 3-2 in OVC play. The Governors are 14-17-1 and 4-1.
Jessica Hunter pitched all seven innings for a shutout in the opener. She allowed five hits while striking out one and walking three.
Southeast had seven hits in the first game, led by Alana Bagby-Leonard and Brooke Nett with two apiece. Bagby-Leonard, who homered, and Nett each drove in two runs.
Kelly Birk was the tough-luck loser in the finale as both runs she allowed were unearned. In six innings, Birk gave up just two hits while striking out five and walking two.
The Otahkians had six second-game hits, two from both Nett and Kate Groden.
Southeast and Austin Peay will close out their three-game series at 1 p.m. today.
