COLUMBIA -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team, playing its fifth match of the season, found its first victory Friday in the Missouri Tiger Invitational.

Southeast encountered little resistance from East Carolina with a 15-1, 15-6, 15-3 victory in its opener of the four-team, round-robin tournament.

While the win was the first for Southeast (1-4), the loss was the first for East Carolina (5-1).

Lea Beckemeyer led Southeast with 12 kills while teammate Jackie Dewort added 10. Krista Haukap paced the defense with 12 digs and Dewort finished with 10. Setter Angie Aschoff dished out 28 assists.

Southeast concludes the tournament today with a 10 a.m. match against New Mexico State and a 7 p.m. match against Missouri.
