CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Aided by Janelle Quigley's fourth-place finish, Southeast Missouri State University's women's cross country team took third in the 14-team Saluki Invitational Saturday.
Southeast's men placed 14th among 14 teams.
UT-Knoxville won the women's race with 31 points. UT-Chattanooga (50) and Southeast (95) trailed.
With 44 points, UT-Chattanooga won the men's race; Southeast had 407 points.
Quigley completed the course in 17:29. Tammy Wenkle (14th, 18:05), Leslie McNamara (21st, 18:23), Amy Arteme (24th, 18:38) and Celeste Ramsey (32nd, 18:55) followed.
For the men, Ryan Layton paced Southeast with a 71st-place finish in 27:31. He was trailed by Nathan Spears (73rd, 27:39), Tyson Brown (80th, 28:37), Brock Alspaugh (88th, 29:30) and Adam Shupe (95th, 30:59).
