The Southeast Missouri women's cross country team placed fourth out of 16 teams Saturday at the Saluki Invitational. The Otahkians finished with 90 points. The Southeast Missouri women's cross country team placed fourth out of 16 teams Saturday at the Saluki Invitational.

The Otahkians finished with 90 points. Host Southern Illinois-Carbondale won the event with 36 points.

The Southeast men finished 13th. Indiana State University took first-place honors.

Tammy Wenkel (18:18) paced the Otahkians by placing fifth out of 133 runners on the 5,000-meter course. Teammate Amy Arteme (18:25) followed closely behind, finishing eighth. Rounding out Southeast's top five finishers were Christy Williams (21st, 18:47), Celeste Ramsey (29th, 19:00) and Anna Verseman (32nd, 19:15:00).

Jim Wolsey (79th, 27:47:00) was the top finisher for the Southeast men on the 8,000-meter course. Also comprising Southeast's team score were Nathan Speer (85th, 28:05), Danny Copeland (87th, 28:09), Blake Popp (106th, 28:40) and Jarod Tanz (110th, 28:50).
