ORAN, Mo. -- Oran sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth as the Eagles downed Scott City 11-3 in baseball action on Thursday.
Trey Graviett earned the win to improve to 2-0. In 4 1/3 innings, he allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks. He fanned eight and hit three batters. Adam Friga pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up two hits an no walks while striking out two. Oran improved to 4-0.
Garrett Cook went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, while Patrick Friga had two hits and two RBIs in three at-bats. Tyler Cookson went 2-for-4 with on RBI.
Scott City's Jarod Schenimann went 3 1/3 innings and suffered the loss. He allowed seven runs, on five hits and four walks. He struck out five.
Chaffee 16, Scott Central 0
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- G.P. Glueck, Rusty Duncan and Perry Rice combined for a five-inning no-hitter as Chaffee cruised to victory.
Chaffee had eight hits in the game, including two by Rice.
Glueck was credited with the win as he improved to 2-0.
"It was good that we got to play a lot of kids and it was nice to play some ball again," Chaffee coach Brian Horrell said. "We had three rainouts this week so it was nice to get outside."
Chaffee improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the Scott-Mississippi Conference.
BOYS GOLF
Cape Central 166New Madrid 174
NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Luke Oliver carded a 39 at the par-36 New Madrid Country Club to lead Cape Central to victory.
Paul York and Todd Obergoenner followed Oliver with 42s, while Nick Harter shot a 43.
"We didn't do too bad considering the conditions," Cape Central coach Dick Wadlington said. "We've had a late spring and a lot of courses aren't in real good shape yet. The playing conditions right now are tough for everybody."
Everett Gee led New Madrid with a score of 42.
Central improved to 4-1 in dual matches.
GIRLS SOCCER
Jackson 2, St. Vincent 1
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent tied the game at 1-1 five minutes into the second half, but K.T. Biri quickly responded and put Jackson up to stay when she scored off an assist from Kenzie Turley.
Lacie Hodo scored Jackson's first goal off an assist by Courtney Urhaha.
For St. Vincent (4-3-1), Becky Kirn scored on an assist from Chelsey Brown.
Cape Central 2Poplar Bluff 1
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Amber Voerg scored two goals as Central battled to a victory over a stubborn Poplar Bluff team.
The Lady Mules took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but 11 minutes into the second half, Amber Voerg scored an unassisted goal to tie it. At the 67-minute mark, Voerg deposited a nifty assist from Trisha Klipfel from about 18 yards out to put the Lady Tigers ahead to stay.
Central improved to 4-1-2.
The Lady Tigers' junior varsity team managed a 7-2 win.
SOFTBALL
Oran 5, Scott City 2
ORAN, Mo. -- Teresa Hodges limited Scott City to two hits as the Lady Eagles kept their record unblemished at 3-0.
Tied at 2-2 after four innings, Oran scored one in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull away.
Ashley Dirnberger led the Lady Eagle offense with two hits and two RBIs. Hodges had an RBI triple.
TENNIS
Cape Central 8, Sikeston 1
The Tigers remain undefeated (6-0) with the easy win over inexperienced SEMO Conference foe Sikeston.
"The real test will come Saturday when we host Parkway West," said Central coach Bud Craven. "We've never beaten them and they're traditionally one of the top teams in the state."
Cape Central's JV squad blanked the Bulldogs 13-0.
