Oran girls track and field team sends five to sectional meet

The Oran girls track and field team will send five of its athletes to the sectional meet after the Eagles soared to a fourth-place finish in the team standings at Saturday's Class 1 District 1 meet at Crystal City High School.

Senior Kaylen Glastetter clinched first place in the 100 and 200 dashes to lead Oran, which tied Viburnum with 50 points for fourth place overall. Senior Toni Hency also won the shot put for the Eagles with a throw of 33 feet, 9 inches to advance.

Delta's Jamie Hodge will also be joining the Eagles at sectionals. The Bobcats' junior finished fourth in the 3,200 run with a time of 13 minutes, 39.59 seconds to qualify.

The Oran boys team also will send four members to the sectional. Junior Brett Ressel placed first in the triple jump and took second in the long jump to lead the Eagles to an eighth-place finish overall. Sophomore Dillon Holmes also took second place in the high jump for the Eagles.

Zalma junior Alex Steinberg finished second in the 1600 run and third in the 300 hurdles to qualify for the sectional. Sophomore Peyton Ford finished behind Steinberg in the 1600 run to take third place for the Bulldogs, who finished seven points behind Oran to take ninth place overall.

Delta sophomore Tucker Robinson posted a third-place finish in the shot put to qualify as well.

The sectional meet will be held Saturday at Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School in the suburban St. Louis area.
