The Southeast Missouri State soccer program added another local talent on Friday with Notre Dame’s Kristin Anderson signing her letter of intent to play college soccer at SEMO.

Anderson said playing at the next level is something she’s always dreamed of.

“I’ve played soccer since I was four so it's always been a dream of mine,” Anderson said.

When exploring options for college, Anderson has always wanted to go to SEMO.

“I knew I wanted to go to SEMO for college in general,” Anderson said. “The fact I have the opportunity to play soccer there is insane to me.”

Anderson is excited to play with her new teammates at Southeast and see how they will impact her game.

“The girls have been very welcoming,” Anderson said. “I think that will be a big help for me getting started in college.”

The jump from high school to college soccer can be complex and Anderson knows she has a lot to learn.

“I’m definitely not up to speed with how they play yet,” Anderson said. “But, I’m excited to see how well I can do and how much I can improve over the years.”

With SEMO bringing in local talent over the years, Anderson said it helped her with her decision.

“I’ve had a lot of girls tell me their experiences and how they loved it there,” Anderson said. “That made me want to play there. Also, I know that I have people on that team that I can trust and that will help guide me through stuff.”

Anderson said signing her letter of intent only gives her more motivation as the Bulldogs near the stretch run.

“It makes me realize I have more to come,” Anderson said. “I want to work harder for them and I want to show them that we can do it.”

Anderson and the Bulldogs are currently 10-5-2 on the season and they will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 when the Bulldogs take on Perryville (11-1) at Notre Dame Regional High School.
