ST. LOUIS -- Notre Dame's Adam Obermiller netted two goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-0 win over Priory Monday in the first round of the St. Dominic Tournament.

Oliver Sanders and Chris Dirnberger also scored goals for the fourth-seeded Bulldogs, who improved to 16-3-1. Cory Elfrink and Shane Kistner each had an assist.

Notre Dame may not have it so easy in the next round of the tournament.

"Whoever we play (St. Dominic or Westminster) will be a tough competition for us," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn. "Westminster beat us 1-0 earlier this year. St. Dominic was in the final four last year in the state tournament, finishing third."

Notre Dame will play at 5 p.m. today against one of those two teams.

Jackson 10, De Soto 0

JACKSON -- The mercy rule was declared with 20 minutes left as Jackson improved to 10-7-5.

Tyler Stearns recorded three goals and one assist; Joe Weber netted three goals; Jimmy Sievers had two goals; Patrick Kohm scored one goal and had four assists; Matt Gordon added one goal and an assist; and Raju Dirnberger had one assist.

In a game from Saturday, Jackson tied Belleville West 1-1, with Jackson's Joe Weber scoring on a free kick.

Jackson JV 1, Notre Dame 0

Jackson prevailed in the first round of the Cape Central JV Tournament.

Matt Buttrey scored the goal and Austin McDowell recorded the shutout.

VOLLEYBALL

Leopold 15-3-15

St. Vincent 4-15-6

PERRYVILLE -- Leopold is now 17-5 after holding off St. Vincent.

"They played a good game," said Leopold coach Leanne Huffman. "We made mistakes at crucial points in the game that kept us from winning in two sets."

Scoring leaders for Leopold were: Holly Jansen (seven kills), Gwen Vandeven (five kills), Sarah Gowen (five kills, 10 assists, 10 digs) and Jennifer Elfrink (four kills).

With the win, Leopold improved to 17-5.

St. Vincent's Jessica Lakenan turned in a strong effort with 19 kills, five blocks and nine service points.

"Jessica Lakenan was on fire," said St. Vincent coach Stacie Bauwens. "She had an incredible night."

Also for St. Vincent (7-16-2), Danielle Sutterer added six kills and four blocks while Casey Kirn recorded 18 assists.

St. Vincent won the JV match 15-13, 6-15, 15-10.

Poplar Bluff 11-15-15

Cape Central 15-12-5

Central fell to 6-17-1 after dropping a three-set match.

Katie Cozby had 10 digs for the Lady Tigers, who got six kills from Amber Birk and four kills from Andrea Birk.

The Lady Tigers' JV lost 3-15, 15-8, 15-4.

Bernie 15-9-15

Woodland 4-15-13

BERNIE -- Woodland is now 20-5 after losing a tight three-set contest.

Sarah Booth had 12 digs and five kills for the Lady Cardinals, who got seven assists from Julia Cutsinger and four digs and nine blocks from Lilo Whitener.

Woodland's JV lost 15-12, 15-8.

Poplar Bluff 38, Cape Central 6

Brian Crain threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Chris Jones for Central's lone score.
