PACIFIC -- Notre Dame did not allow a shot on goal in two games at the Pacific Tournament Monday on the way to two shutout victories.

The Lady Bulldogs won their opening contest over Hillsboro 4-0 then returned for a 5-0 pounding of Windsor. The two wins improved the Notre Dame's record to 4-3-1 and put them in the championship game Thursday at 5 p.m., against Pacific.

Jennifer Glueck scored two goals and assisted on another in the win over Hillsboro. Beth Essner also scored twice and Stephanie Miller had an assist.

In the Windsor game, Notre Dame extended a 1-0 lead at halftime into a blowout in the second.

Glueck scored once and assisted on three other goals as five different players scored for Notre Dame.

Essner, Jessica Lorenz, Lisa Vandergraf and Kelly Canfield all scored for the Lady Bulldogs. Jill Edwards added an assist.

"Windsor was a much better team than Hillsboro, but I think we came up with our best performance ever at Notre Dame," said Lady Bulldog coach Jeff Worley of his team's dominating win in the second game.

Baseball

Perryville 6, Crystal City 2

CRYSTAL CITY -- Perryville managed just four hits off Crystal City pitching, but the Pirates made sure they produced damage.

Two of the hits came off the bat of Ben Kohn, the first a two-out, two-run double in the first inning and the latter a two-run homer in the sixth. Matt Meyr also drilled a two-run home run in the third inning to account for Perryville's runs.

"We only got four hits, but we got them when we needed them," said Perryville coach Dennis Glueck.

Perryville improved to 3-1 with the win and 2-1 in the Jefferson County Conference.

Josh Moll recorded the win on the mound, surrendering just five hits in going the distance. He struck out two and walked four.

Perryville will host Scott City today in non-conference action.

Softball

Chaffee 14, St. Vincent 0

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee posted its fourth shutout in as many games with a five-inning victory over St. Vincent.

Kelly Glueck (2-0) pitched her second shutout, limiting St. Vincent to two hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out six.

Chaffee managed just five hits, but benefited from 16 walks, four hit batsmen and eight stolen bases. Amy Burnett accounted for two of the hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Chaffee built a 5-0 lead in the first and led 14-0 after four innings.

Chaffee visits Delta on Wednesday.

Tennis

Cape Central 5, Sikeston 4

The Cape Central tennis team clinched their home match with Sikeston Monday when Jeremy Driskell and Aaron Moore teamed up to win a thrilling doubles match 9-7. The team win pushed Central's record to 2-2. The Tigers will host Desoto Wednesday

The junior varsity tennis team also prevailed with an 8-3 win to improve to 2-1-1.

Kelly Invitational

KELLY -- Two school relay records were broken by the Kelly boys as they claimed second place in their own meet Monday with a total of 116 points.

Charleston won first in the eight-team meet with 188 points. In girls' action, Kelly won over Charleston 149-136.

Kelly broke school records in the 4x400-meter with a time of 3:39.1 and 4x200m with a 1:38.2 clocking. Members of the 4x400 team are Mike Riley, Travis Schiwitz, Nathen King and Chad Felter.

Members of the 4x200 team are King, Schiwitz, Nathan Dirnberger and Joe Livingston.

Central 9th-grade wins

Cape Central's 9th-grade boys track team improved to 3-0 in dual meets with a 75-65 victory over New Madrid.

The Tigers return to action Thursday in an Invitational at Poplar Bluff.

Freshman Baseball

The Cape Central freshman baseball team opened their season with a doubleheader split at home against Scott City.

The freshman Tigers won the first game 10-9 then lost the finale 6-1.

Rick Davis ended the first game in the bottom of the seventh with a sacrifice fly to score Chad Jones with the winning run from third. Jones and Richard Harrison both had two hits.

Dustin Sitzes earned the win on the mound.

In the second game, Jeff Thiele had the only Tiger hit. Sean Maguire pitched the first three innings and took the loss.
