BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Top-seeded Notre Dame, No. 2 Kelly and No. 3 Charleston all posted easy victories, while No. 4 Scott City slipped past No. 5 Greenville in the first round of the Class 2A, District 2 girls basketball tournament Saturday.
Notre Dame knocked off winless Woodland 65-11.
Deana McCormick scored 18 points and Ashley Millham added 16.
Notre Dame (22-3), ranked first in the Class 2A state poll, led 20-4 after the first quarter and 29-6 at halftime.
Kelly got 27 points from Marissa Essner and 25 from Bridgett Riley as it rolled to a 73-33 victory over East Prairie.
Kelly led 38-20 at halftime and 66-29 going into the fourth quarter. Rebecca Bone led East Prairie with 15 points.
In Scott City's 51-43 victory over Greenville, Scott City freshman Loren Groves scored 27 points and pulled down 16 rebounds as the No. 4 Lady Rams overcame a horrible free-throw performance to knock off No. 5 Greenfield.
Groves was Scott City's only double-figure scorer, but Makenzie Cartwright had four assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Scott City (19-7) managed to win despite making only 10 of its 27 foul shots, including just 5 of 22 in the second half.
Charleston had four players in double figures as the Lady Bluejays advanced to the semifinals with a 79-40 win over Chaffee.
Alicia Rodgers paced third-seeded Charleston with 22 points including four 3-pointers. She was followed by Dreele Mathis with 16 points, Monisha Murray with 14 and Missy Whitney with 11.
Jennifer Vandeven led sixth-seeded Chaffee with 19 points, while April Stafford posted 11.
Charleston used a 28-point outburst in the second quarter to take a commanding 43-20 lead into halftime. The Lady Blue Jays outscored the Lady Red Devils 51-20 in second and third quarters.
Notre Dame will take on Scott City at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, while Charleston will take on Kelly at 8.
New Life 44, Eagle Ridge 22
JOPLIN, Mo. -- New Life Christian School's 6-foot-2 Tiffany Fish outscored Eagle Ridge by herself as the Lady Eagles were defeated in the third-place game of the Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association state tournament.
Fish scored 29 points, 20 points more than any other player on the court.
Amber Karnes scored nine points to lead Eagle Ridge (15-5).
New Life led 13-2 in the first quarter and 20-3 at halftime.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Crescent Lake 61, Eagle Ridge 57
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Eagle Ridge Christian School received 23 points from Toby Shreve and 13 from Mike Probst, but fell in the consolation game of the Missouri Christan Schools Athletic Association state tournament.
Eagle Ridge concluded its season with a 10-12 record.
Zach Wilkins, one of three players in double figures for Crescent lake, finished with 22 points.
Crescent lake led 32-30 going into the second half and extended its lead to 47-40 going into the fourth quarter.
