Notre Dame boys perform well

The Notre Dame boys track team collected eight medals at its own season-opening Bulldog Relays on Saturday.

In the boys field events, Notre Dame placed first with a score of 58, while Saxony Lutheran was seventh (14).

In the boys sprint events, Notre Dame placed fifth (17), while Saxony Lutheran was eighth (9).

In the boys distance events, Notre Dame took first (46), while Saxony Lutheran placed fourth (22).

On the girls side, Notre Dame pole vaulter Jill Schnurbush won the individual event with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches, a new school record.

Jackson and Central both showed strong at the Murphysboro Track and Field Invitational.

Both Jackson and Cape Central had four first-place finishes, including three by the girls, and one by the boys for each school.

Jill Rushin finished first in the shot put and discus events for the Indians.
