NEW MADRID, Mo. — New Madrid County Central continues to solidify its dominance in high school basketball, dismantling Caruthersville 82-43 on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Jadis Jones unleashed another unstoppable performance, leading the Eagles (21-1) to a decisive homecoming victory over the Tigers (11-10) and showcasing why they hold the No. 1 ranking in the Maxpreps Small Town Top 25.

“The team played well,” said NMCC coach Dontre Jenkins.” They did a decent job trying to keep us out of the paint in the first half, so we were settling for jump shots and overthinking everything. We came out in the third quarter and dominated from there on. We stepped our defense pressure up forcing them into turnovers that allowed us to get out in transition getting easy buckets.”

Jones erupted for a game-high 37 points on an efficient 14-of-20 shooting performance.

His impact transcended scoring, as he also collected 13 rebounds, six steals, four assists, and two blocks. This all-around brilliance left Caruthersville helpless, unable to contain his electrifying energy on both ends of the court.

While Jones undoubtedly stole the show, his teammates provided crucial support. BJ Williamson contributed a solid 17 points.

Marvion Cranford added 12 points and six rebounds, while AJ Ruff orchestrated the offense with seven points and 10 assists. Ra'Mond Brooks chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds, further highlighting the balanced nature of the Eagles’ attack.

Caruthersville entered the game as a formidable adversary. However, on this night, it simply faced a superior machine. While Abeyon Motton's 16 points and Jermonte Alexander's 11 points represented commendable efforts, they were unable to overcome the relentless Eagles.

Caruthersville is back in action in Tennessee against Lake County (6-15) on Thursday, Feb. 8, while NMCC travels to Jackson (15-6) on Friday, Feb. 9.
