New Salem Baptist of Marble Hill ended its volleyball season with a loss in the championship game of the Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association state tournament Saturday in Joplin, Mo.
The Eagles finished their season at 20-3.
New Salem advanced to the championship with a 25-12, 25-12 semifinal win against Calvery Christian of Nevada, Mo.
Mary Beth Poole had 14 kills, Laura Poole had 30 assists, Sarah Green had eight kills, and Martha Poole added five kills for the Eagles.
In the championship, Riverview Christian of Excelsior Springs, Mo., avenged a loss to New Salem on Friday with a 20-25, 25-18, 15-4 win.
Mary Beth Poole had 10 kills to lead New Salem, Sarah Green had seven kills and Laura Poole had 18 assists.
Mary Beth Poole and Sarah Green were named to the MCSAA all-state first team, and Laura Poole was named to the second team.
DeSmet scored two first-half goals and eased by Central in a battle of Class 3 state-ranked teams.
Central, celebrating senior day, is ranked No. 6, while DeSmet of St. Louis County sits at No. 7.
"They played very well," Central coach Tom Doyle said. "We were just a little disjointed at some points. The things we've been doing well all season, we weren't doing so well today."
Jordan Young had 12 saves in goal for the Tigers (19-3-1).
