JACKSON, Mo. — In a scorching summer showdown, New Madrid County Central and Jackson collided head-on during a scrimmage on Friday, July 28 at Jackson High School.

Both teams unveiled glimpses of their potential, igniting fans’ excitement in anticipation of the upcoming season.

“I was very pleased with the overall competitiveness of our team,” said NMCC coach Tyler Fullhart. “Jackson is a very solid and sound team. It was good to compete against them and even have some success in some areas. It was good for our guys.”

After an intense scrimmage, Fullhart dissected the performance of his squad on both sides of the ball.

On offense, he acknowledged the need for refinement, emphasizing the importance of deliberate execution and purposeful play. Through the initial showing was deemed satisfactory, the team is determined to elevate their performance before the eagerly awaited Week 1 matchup with Richmond.

Turning to the defensive side, Fullhart praised his players’ skill in coverage. While recognizing areas for improvement, particularly along the defensive line, particular along the defensive line.

However, Fullhart’s confidence in his unit’s resolute nature remains unwavering, setting the stage for a formidable defensive presence in the upcoming season.

Amidst the heat of battle, certain individuals emerged as undeniable forces, leaving an indelible mark on the field.

Their exceptional performances showcased a symphony of skill, grit and raw talent.

Reflecting on the scrimmage, Fullhart couldn’t help but commend these standout players, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the team’s overall success.

“Jadis Jones, Kayden Minner, and BJ Williamson looked good,” he said. “I thought AJ Ruff did a lot of really good things on both sides of the ball. Zack Gamblin and Tayven Lyles were both very sound. BJ Williamson and Ty Williams looked nice doing some new things. I was also very impressed with Jakwon Jones. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow this group throughout the season.”
