~ The Bulldogs' point guard said she will sign in November
Allyson Bradshaw said it's a big relief to already have made her college choice.
Bradshaw, a Notre Dame Regional High School senior, verbally committed recently to play basketball at Southeast Missouri State.
Bradshaw, a 5-foot-7 point guard, said she plans to make it official in November during the NCAA's early signing period.
"It feels awesome," Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw earned all-state honors as a junior after helping lead the Bulldogs to last season's Class 4 championship game, which they lost to Webb City.
Despite the presence of all-state forward/center Jane Morrill -- who received a basketball scholarship from Arkansas State -- Bradshaw led the Bulldogs in scoring with an average of more than 15 points per game.
Bradshaw also averaged nearly five assists and three steals per contest.
"Allyson is a very strong point guard with a lot of experience and she can also shoot the 3-pointer," Notre Dame coach Renee Peters said. "Last year was a blowout year for her."
Bradshaw was especially impressive during the state final four, leading the Bulldogs in scoring both games with a total of 44 points. She had 26 points in the semifinal and 18 in the final.
Of her reasons for picking Southeast, Bradshaw said: "I guess cause it's close to home. I like the coach a lot. I met some of the girls and they're really nice."
Peters believes Bradshaw will be a strong addition for the Redhawks.
"On and off the court, she's just a quality kid. I'm really happy for her and proud of her," Peters said.
Southeast coach John Ishee is prohibited by NCAA regulations from commenting until Bradshaw signs a letter of intent.
