Notre Dame overcame a sluggish start on senior night but finished with a 25-18, 25-3 victory against New Madrid County Central on Tuesday night at Notre Dame Regional High School. Notre Dame overcame a sluggish start on senior night but finished with a 25-18, 25-3 victory against New Madrid County Central on Tuesday night at Notre Dame Regional High School.

Allison Essner had 10 assists and served 12 straight points in the second game for the Bulldogs (26-4-3). Laura Browne had 10 kills, Amber Karnes had nine assists, Amanda Essner had six kills and Lauren Beussink had five kills.

JV -- Notre Dame won 25-10, 25-8

Leopold 25-14-25

Puxico 20-25-21

Leopold scored a road win over Class 2 power Puxico.

Amber Nenninger led a balanced effort nine kills and seven digs. Lori VanderMierden had five blocks, Rachel Crader added 23 assists, Mary Beth Bohnsack had eight digs and Samanthan Bueter had six kills.

JV -- Leopold won in two sets

CROSS COUNTRY

Advance Invitational

Saxony Lutheran had the top three finishers in the boys division en route to a victory at the Advance Invitational.

Brandon Etzold (17:43), Peter Winningham (17:45) and Trey Maevers (17:51) swept the top three spots for the Crusaders. Kory Mueller finished seventh for Saxony, and Max Wieser was ninth.

Delta's Kevin Bartels finished fourth in 18:04. Cory Roper of Advance was fifth, and Joel Hahs of Meadow Heights was sixth. Oak Ridge's Dustin Owens was 10th, leading his team to a second-place showing.

Meadow Heights won the girls division with 24 points, four point ahead of Oak Ridge.

Whitney Breitenstein finished third to pace Meadow Heights, while Carly Smith was sixth, Abi Whissore seventh and Jenna Hahs eighth.

Oak Ridge's Sam Zoellner finished first in 22:58, and Amanda Watson finished fourth in 24:30.

Delta was led by Jessica Drew in fifth and Jessica Kidd in ninth.
