Despite having to postpone its conference swimming meet because of bad weather Thursday, the Notre Dame and Central boys swimming teams competed at the Central Municipal Pool to try to qualify more swimmers for the state meet.

Notre Dame added two state qualifiers. Jordan Kuper qualified in the 200 IM in 2:09.63 and John Fisher qualified in the 100 fly in 57.60.

Jameson Kuper improved his state time in the 100 free, shaving 0.25 seconds off his earlier time of 50.83.

No team scores were kept.

Poplar Bluff, the third team in the league, was unable to travel to compete. Coaches said they expect the conference meet to be rescheduled.

St. Vincent's offense was as cold as the weather in the first half when the Squaws were outscored 15-6 in the first quarter of a road loss.

The Squaws (6-11) fell behind 23-18 at halftime and couldn't come back. Chelsea Brown led the Squaws wit 15 points. Danielle Schremp added 13.

Jackson time changed at St. Louis tournament

A schedule change means a later start for Jackson in today's semifinal of the Fisher-Proling Invitational at Maryville University in St. Louis.

The Indians will play St. Joseph's Academy at 8:30 p.m. instead of 7 as earlier scheduled. The final round will be Saturday.

OTHER EVENTS

Central's ninth-grade boys' basketball team finished its season with a second-place finish at the Central Tournament Wednesday night. The Tigers fell to Jackson 57-47 in the championship. Central (8-9) was led by Jared Thomas' 23 points.
