Top-seeded Notre Dame and No. 2 St. Vincent eked out one-goal semifinal wins Monday to move on to the championship of the Class 1 District 1 girls soccer tournament in Perryville.
The Bulldogs (15-2-1) edged No. 4 Perryville 2-1 in one semifinal, and No. 2 St. Vincent knocked off No. 3 Sikeston 1-0 in the other semifinal. The championship game is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Meridith Medlin opened the scoring for the Bulldogs in the opening half on an assist from Taylor Sanders. Just minues after the Pirates tied the score early in the second half, Mindy Siebert scored the game-winner on an assist from Destiny Dirnberger.
Shelley Frank made 12 saves in goal for Notre Dame.
Becca Hanquist scored for the Pirates (15-9) on an assist from Kendra Schilli about 12 minutes into the second half. Chastity Marr made 12 saves for the Pirates.
Brooke Brown scored the lone goal for St. Vincent (19-6) in its win over Sikeston. Megan Wengert picked up the shutout.
BASEBALLClass 1 District 2
The top seeds advanced easily in the opening round of the Class 1 District 2 tournament at Oran.
Top-seeded Oran will face No. 4 Advance at 2:30 p.m. today, and No. 2 Bernie will play No. 3 Bell City at 4:30 p.m. in the other semifinal.
Caleb Seyer and Tyler Beardslee each hit grand slams as Oran crushed Richland 18-7 in five innings.
Chris Asmus belted two doubles and pitched three scoreless innings, striking out six batters for the win. Kody Campbell added a triple and Alex Chasteen, Cody Dirnberger and Dillon Glastetter each added doubles for the Eagles (21-4).
Nick Niemczyk belted a grand slam and a two-run home run in the first inning to lead Bell City in a 16-1 romp over Scott County Central in five innings.
David VanGennip went 3-for-4 at the plate and picked up the win for Advance, as they defeated Leopold 8-1.
Rusty Hendricks had three hits, including a double, and Garrett Mayo and Cameron Stevens each added two hits for the Hornets.
Second-seeded Bernie routed Delta 10-0 in six innings.

Defending district champion Saxony Lutheran moved into the semifinals of the Class 1 District 3 tournament with a 16-2 win over No. 7 Lesterville.
Garrett Fritsche led the No. 2 Crusaders with four hits. Chris Roth added three hits and picked up the win on the mound.
Saxony Lutheran (13-7) will face No. 3 Valley Caledonia at 6:30 p.m. today in the semifinals.
In the other district games, Valley knocked off Meadow Heights 16-5, and No. 4 South Iron routed No. 5 Oak Ridge 15-0.

Top seeds Chaffee and Scott City moved into the semifinals of the Class 2 District 2 tournament, while No. 3 Kelly was upset by host Charleston.
Chaffee will face No. 5 Crystal City at 4:30 p.m. today in one semifinal. Crystal City knocked off No. 4 East Prairie. Scott City will face No. 6 Charleston in the other semifinal.
Andy Hendrix had a home run and a double, and Chris Hanback added two triples in Chaffee's 12-2 rout of No. 8 Woodland. Adam Crowe pitched all five innings for the win.
Ryan Modglin threw four hitless inning and added four RBIs in Scott City's 11-0 win over St. Vincent. Josh Henson pitched a hitless fifth to finish off the no-hitter.
Modglin struck out seven and walked just one. Jaris Hye added three RBIs.
Sixth-seeded Charleston routed No. 3 Kelly 18-7. Kelly starter Dallas Tew allowed 11 runs in the loss. Tew and Josh DeBrock led Kelly with three hits apiece.

Third-seeded Notre Dame trailed 7-0 heading into the bottom of the second and could not recover in a 9-5 loss to No. 6 Perryville in the opening round of the Class 3 District 1 tournament at Dexter.
Notre Dame closed the gap to 7-5 after three innings, but the Bulldogs were held scoreless the rest of the way. Jacob Valleroy had three hits for Notre Dame (13-11), and Luke Moll had a three-run home run.
Brandon Reiss had a two-run home run for the Pirates, and Jon Hecht and Ryan Mueller added two hits apiece. Hecht got the win.
Perryville will face No. 2 Sikeston today in the semifinals.
