The Notre Dame girls swimming team finished eighth and Central placed ninth in the season-opening Marquette Relays on Saturday.

The Bulldogs finished with 110 points, and Central followed at 100. Marquette topped the 11-team field with 284 points.

Notre Dame's Brittany Menz earned a state cut in the 200-yard individual medley when she swam the first leg of the 600-yard medley in 2 minutes, 23.12 seconds.

The Bulldogs' 600 relay, which also included Ashly Ducharme and Lauren Bader, placed seventh.

The Bulldogs' 400 medley relay team of Ducharme, Ashley Nenninger, Jordan Seabaugh and Menz finished sixth in 4:45.62.

Notre Dame's diving trio of Abigail Messmer, Emily Huber and Lauren Bader was fifth.

For Central, Hannah Kinder made the state cut in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle. She swam her portions of the 600 IM relay in 2:16.38 and the 400 free relay in 53.84.

Annie Wolphers and Jessica Baker joined Kinder on the sixth-place 600 medley relay team, which finished in 7:34.69.

Central's foursome of Baker, Brianna LeGrand and Kinder placed fifth in the 900 progression relay in 10:06.54.

Central's diving team of Betsy Schroeder, Taylor McMillan and Tara Volkerding was fourth.

Notre Dame and Central will clash in a dual meet at 4 p.m. Monday at the Central Municipal Pool.
