The Notre Dame High School softball team is getting mighty used to comeback victories.
Monday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs rallied to win for the third straight time, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to upend visiting Perryville 4-3.
"We sure make it interesting," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet, whose squad improved its record to 4-0.
Trailing 3-1 entering the sixth, the Lady Bulldogs scored their three runs with the benefit of just one hit -- by Ramona Blankenship -- as some shaky Perryville defense caused all the runs to be unearned.
Notre Dame starting pitcher Mika Williamson allowed three runs (one earned) and three hits in four innings, with five strikeouts and one walk.
Lindsay Reinagel got the win as she moved to 4-0, allowing just one hit in three shutout innings. She fanned two and walked none.
Sara Lappe was the tough-luck loser, allowing five hits and just one earned run in going the six-inning distance.
Williamson had two of Notre Dame's five hits. Amy Steffens and Kelly Kassell each had two hits to account for Perryville's offense.
Notre Dame will host its annual eight-team Soccerfest Wednesday through Saturday. First-round games Wednesday feature Sikeston vs. St. Pius at 4 p.m. and Poplar Bluff vs. Dongola, Ill., at 5:30. Thursday, opening-round contests pit Notre Dame against Ste. Genevieve at 4 p.m. and St. Vincent against Park Hills at 5:30.
