The Lady Bulldogs played physical the entire night as they improved to 4-0.

Erin Vickery and Jennifer Glueck led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points each. Melissa Maurer added 11. Shayla Day scored 17 to pace New Madrid.

Cape Central 37, Rosati-Kain 28

ST. LOUIS -- Behind junior point guard Kim Aslinger's 22 points and a defense that held Rosati-Kain to seven points in the second half, Central won its first-round game in the Oakville Tournament on Monday.

Central (1-0) will play either defending Class 4A state champion Gateway Tech or Fox today at 5:30 p.m.

"We went to a match-up zone defense and really did a good job," said Central coach Paula Watkins. "We have a totally new team; it was a good win for us."

Central's JV beat Oakville 48-31 in the Mehlville tournament.

Scott City 68, Chaffee 32

SCOTT CITY -- The Lady Rams got double-digit scoring from five different players Monday to defeat Chaffee.

Jessica Dees and Becca Gowin scored 12 points to pace Scott City (2-0). Alaina Smith and Lani Bedwell totaled 11 points and Amy O'Brien 10. Bedwell added seven assists.

"Jessica Dees did a good job," said Scott City coach Randall White. "She got on boards hard and took (the ball) to the basket well."

Brandi Foulk led Chaffee with 10 points before fouling out late in the game. Scott City led 33-9 at halftime.

Kelly 68, Dexter 43

BENTON -- Kelly's balance was too much for Dexter to handle Monday night as the Lady Hawks improved to 2-0.

Tiffany Glastetter led four Kelly players in double-figures, scoring 15 points. Audrey Burford scored 14 points followed by Pam Essner, 12, and Marissa Essner, 10.

Dexter (0-1) had three players do all its scoring led by Mikaela Scott, 19 points, and Heather Galloway, 18.

Leading 50-39 after three quarters, Kelly outscored Dexter 68-43 in the final quarter to pull away.

Delta 56, St. Vincent 30

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent kept the game close for a quarter, trailing 14-12, before Delta outscored the Squaws 42-18 in the last three quarters.

Delta (1-0) got a balanced effort; Marianne Cook scored 15 points, Erin Eftink 12 and Kristin Fish 12.

Fara Galati paced the Squaws (0-1) with 12 points.

Scott County 82, Meridian (Ill.) 33

MORLEY -- Scott County Central got 31 points from sophomore Vontrice Blackmon to improve to 2-0 Monday night.

Katie Griffin scored 19 points and Danika Kidd had 15 as the Bravettes used a second-half surge to pull away from Meridian. After leading 37-23 at halftime, Scott County outscored Meridian 45-10 in the second half.

Woodland Tournament

MARBLE HILL -- There were no upsets in the first-round of the Woodland Tournament on Monday.

No. 1 Delta beat No. 8 Meadow Heights 85-64, No. 2 Bloomfield handled No. 7 Zalma 69-47 and No. 4 Perryville topped No.5 Oak Ridge 67-42.

Woodland will play Advance today in the final first-round game at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, Delta will face Perryville in a 7 p.m. semifinal game and Bloomfield will play the winner of the Woodland-Advance game Friday at 8:30 p.m.

In the first game Monday, Delta led 27-17 after one quarter and controlled from there.

Garrett DeBrock led all scorers with 24 points; Aaron Altenthal and Shawn Kinder each had 13 and Greg Voelker added 12. For Meadow Heights, Michael Jeter had 15, Ron Laurentius 14 and Kevin Weaver 11.

In the next game, Perryville jumped out to an 18-0 lead in the first quarter in handing coach Dean Lewis his first win at Perryville High School.

"I thought (Oak Ridge) came out pretty tight being their first game and all," said Lewis. "They didn't shoot the ball too well. I was real happy with the way we came out."

Ryan Verseman led Perryville (1-0) with 15 points, while Paul Weinkein and Michael Downen each added 12. Todd French also contributed 11.

Matt Preusser was Oak Ridge's lone double figure scorers with 15 points.

And in the final game, Bloomfield led just 26-22 at halftime, before pulling away in the second half.

For Zalma, Josh Smith, Gandy Wade and Josh Boland each had 10 points.

Oran Tournament

ORAN -- Top-seeded Kelly rolled Monday night, but No. 2 Richland got upset by Puxico 62-57 in the opening round of the Oran Tournament.

The host Oran Eagles, seeded third, got past sixth-seed Twin Rivers 89-77 in the highest scoring game of the night. Chris Nichols led the Eagles with 21 points followed by teammates Jerod Hamm, 16, and Daniel Wheeler, 15.

Puxico, seeded seventh, outscored Richland 21-11 in the final quarter to advance to the semifinals. Kelly got 20 points from Jim Hulshof to top the eighth-seeded Wildcats 69-23.

The tourney continues tonight with Richland playing Twin Rivers at 6:30. Fourth-seed Scott County and No. 5 Bell City complete first-round play with an 8 p.m. game.

9th-grade basketball

Central, ND split

Notre Dame's ninth-grade "A" team beat Cape Central on Monday 49-35.

Chris Cole led Central (0-2) with 15 points.

In the ninth-grade "B" game, Central (1-0) won 51-37.

Jonathan Ayers' 11 points paced Central.
