PERRYVILLE -- Notre Dame's girls basketball team opened the season on a winning note Monday night, defeating Farmington 56-45 in round-robin play in the Perryville Tournament.

Rachael Schlosser led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points while Jennifer Glueck added 11.

Notre Dame led throughout, building a 20-12 first-quarter lead and holding a 33-24 advantage at halftime.

Host Perryville also won its season-opener, defeating St. Pius 48-44.

Perryville broke open a 24-24 halftime tie to hand coach Vicki Lohmann her first win as head coach of the Lady Pirates.

Renee Kaempfe scored 14 points to pace Perryville and Laura Ernst had 10.

Chrissy Zander tallied a game-high 15 points for St. Pius.

Perryville and Notre Dame will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Scott City 73, Woodland 26

SCOTT CITY -- The Lady Rams scored 27 points in the first quarter and got scoring production from nine of their 12 players in a opening-season win.

Becca Gowin scored 16 points to lead Scott City (1-0). Teammates Alaina Smith and Amy O'Brien both totaled 12 points. O'Brien led the Lady Rams with nine rebounds and junior Lani Bedwell dished nine assist and scored seven points.

"Lani ran the offense well for us," said Scott City coach Randall White. "She did a real good job."

Jada Trentham led Woodland (0-1) with 14 points.

Charleston 69, Oran 44

ORAN -- Charleston had to wait until the second quarter for its first points of the season, but the Lady Blue Jays didn't have to wait long for their first win of the season.

In a strange season-opening game for both teams, Oran led 16-0 after one quarter before Charleston righted itself. Charleston pulled out the win by scoring at least 22 points in each of the three remaining periods.

Oran led 17-0 before Charleston outscored the Lady Jays 22-4 over the remainder of the second period for a 22-21 halftime lead. The Lady Blue Jays, who received 23 points from Carlota Mims and 14 from Wanda Wiley, outscored Oran 22-12 in the third quarter for a 44-33 lead.

Lindi Prindle tossed in 19 points for Oran and Sara Heisserer netted 11.

Kelly 47, Delta 39

BENTON -- Marissa Essner scored 14 points and Pam Essner added 11 as Kelly opened its season with a victory.

Amanda McDaniel scored a game-high 19 points for Delta.

Kelly led 24-17 and took a 33-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
