Notre Dame's girls soccer team nearly let a 4-0 second-half lead slip away in a 4-3 home victory Monday, as the Bulldogs tagged Jackson with its first loss of the season.
Lauren Mehner got the scoring started for the Bulldogs (2-2-1) with a header off a Meridith Medlin corner kick in the first half. Kaitlyn Scheeter made it 2-0 with a goal off another Medlin corner. Medlin assisted on yet another goal, hooking up with Destiny Dirnberger to make it 3-0 at halftime.
Three minutes into the second half, Notre Dame's Mattie Neff scored off an assist from Danielle Schumer. Jackson's Molly Hartmann scored twice and her sister Lucy added another in the final 25 minutes for the Indians.
Jackson (3-1) had two corner kicks in the last 30 seconds, but the Indians were denied twice by the Bulldog defense.
"Jackson is a really good team," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said.
"We've played better than our record shows, and we finally got bounces to go our way tonight," he added. "We were due, and it was a good night to be due."
Jackson and Notre Dame played to a 0-0 tie in the JV game.
Central 4, Perryville 1
Central improved to 3-1 with a home victory over Perryville.
Meghan Orr scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the game for the Tigers (3-1), and Kate Miller added another from a Tierra Walker assist, with about five minutes remaining in the half.
Orr assisted Lauren Thompson two minutes into the second half, and Kate Miller finished off Central's scoring with an unassisted goal.
Perryville's Ashley Riney scored with eight minutes left from Jodie Amschler.
St. Pius 3, St. Vincent 2
St. Vincent saw its four-game winning streak snapped with a home loss.
Kelci Cissell and Brooke Brown scored for St. Vincent (4-3). Brown also added an assist. The score was tied 1-1 at halftime, and the three second-half goals all came in the final five minutes of the game.

Kelly 13, Woodland 0
Kelly jumped ahead 7-0 after one inning and won in five at home.
Caleb Daughettee, Kendal Deason and Kent Deason had two hits apiece for Kelly (2-1). Spencer Ayers had three RBIs, and Daughettee and Kendal Deason had two RBIs apiece.
Russell Carroll struck out five in four innings for the win.

Scott City's seventh-inning rally fell short on the road.
The Rams scored two in the seventh but could not bring home the equalizer. Mark Johnston struck out seven and walked none in six innings for the Rams (0-3). Jason Schenimann had a pair of hits for Scott City.

Advance's Jared Lacy, a sophomore in his first year of high school baseball, delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth to put the Hornets over the top.
Daryl Wade pitched five innings to win on the mound, and he also added two hits at the plate.
Cody Roper and Trenton Moses each had three hits, and Kevin Adkins and Rusty Hendricks added two hits apiece for Advance (3-0).

Notre Dame Open
Notre Dame's boys blew away the field at its own track and field meet.
Matt Pfau won the 1,600-meter and the 3,200 and was also part of the 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams. Jason Delgado, Max Poppen, Austin Critchlow and Mark Zimmer each were part of three wins for the Bulldogs.
Central's lone competitors were its pole vaulters, resulting in a last-place finish for the boys and an eighth-place finish for the girls.
Notre Dame's girls finished five points behind winner Poplar Bluff.
Katie Daniel won the 100 hurdles, shot put and 300 hurdles, setting the Notre Dame school record at 33 feet, 5 1/2 inches in the shot put.
