The Notre Dame boys golf team reclaimed the title of Class 3 District 1 champions with a 37-shot victory Monday at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Missouri.
Senior Jack Litzelfelner finished one shot out of the medalist position, won by Farmington's Nicholas Westrich, with an even-par 72.
The Bulldogs' Jonathan Bell, a junior, placed third, two shots back at 74. Lincoln Hunter and Caleb Schnurbush both shot 84 to round out the Notre Dame's 314 total. The Bulldogs had won three consecutive district titles before last season.
Central (Park Hills) finished second at 351, followed by Cape Girardeau Central in third at 368.
The top two teams and the top 15 individuals advanced to the sectional meet, which will be held May 9 at Raintree Country Club in Hillsboro, Missouri.
While the Tigers were just outside the top two, they did advance four individuals to the sectional meet, where they will receive a team score. Senior Kobe Franklin paced Central with an 81 to place sixth. He will be joined at the sectional meet by teammates Kegan Bramlett (94), Dalton Drum (94) and Bennett Osburn 99.
Perryville's Brock Kurre also qualified individually with a 95.

Brian Whitson shot a 4-over-par 74 to claim the medalist honor as Advance successfully defended its Class 1 District 1 title at the Crowley Ridge Recreational Center in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Whitson, a senior, finished five strokes ahead of Bloomfield's Andrew Northern.
Carson Miles (87), Spence Lorch (88) and Creighton Miles (104) rounded out the team score for Advance, which finished 11 shots ahead of Bloomfield.
Andrew Mudd paced St. Vincent with a 95 to qualify individually for the sectional tournament, which will be held at The Oaks Course at Tan-Tar-A Resort next week in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Saxony Lutheran junior Karsten Short shot a 13-over-par 85 to tie for medalist honor and lead the Crusaders to the Class 2 District 1 title at Terre du Lac Country Club in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
Saxony finished nine-shots ahead of runner-up Arcadia Valley, which also qualified for the sectional team competition next week at The Falls Golf Club in O'Fallon, Missouri. Arcadia's Christian Crites matched Short's total atop the leader board, and while the Tigers had two of the top three scores overall, the Crusaders' depth proved decisive. Olivia Voelker (93), Anton Rhodes (95) both finished in the top 10, while Ben Daniel (96) tied for 12th to round out Saxony's 369 total.
Kelly's Drew Keen shot a 113 to qualify for the sectional tournament.
