Atlanta Regional

Northwestern State 64, Iowa 63

Jermaine Wallace hit a fadeaway 3-pointer with a split second left, and little Northwestern State pulled off a shocker with a furious rally, beating Iowa in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Down by 17 with 8 1/2 minutes left, the 14th-seeded Demons from Natchitoches, La., stormed back to down the Big Ten tournament champions.

Northwestern State will face West Virginia Sunday in the second round.

N.C. State 58, California 52

The 10th-seeded Wolfpack snapped a four-game losing streak thanks to Cameron Bennerman, who scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half. First, he made a tough 15-footer off the right side of the foul line, then faked a defender to get an open 3-pointer with 32.3 seconds left as N.C. State (22-9) avenged a first-round tourney loss to the Golden Bears three years ago. Cal won that won on a 3 with 3.9 seconds left.

Oakland Regional

Bucknell 59, Arkansas 55

Charles Lee and Kevin Bettencourt led an offense that lived on the 3-point shot, carrying the Patriot League champions into the second round of the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.

Bucknell (27-4) led nearly the entire game, but had to sweat it out in the final minutes. Jonathon Modica led Arkansas (22-10) with 19 points.

Memphis 94, Oral Roberts 78

Conference USA player of the year Rodney Carney had 19 points and Andre Allen matched his season high with 11 -- all in a late first-half spurt that put Memphis ahead to stay.

No. 1 seed Memphis (31-3) will play Bucknell in the second round.

Pittsburgh 79, Kent St. 64

Aaron Gray scored 17 and Ronald Ramon had 16 -- both shooting 6-of-6 from the field -- to lead a balanced attack as fifth-seeded Pittsburgh (25-7) made 67 percent of its shots.

Minneapolis Regional

Ohio St. 70, Davidson 62

Ron Lewis came off the bench to score 16 of his 19 points in the second half for Ohio State (26-5). The Buckeyes will play Georgetown in the next round. Ian Johnson matched his career high with 26 points and also had 10 rebounds for the No. 15 seed Wildcats (20-11).

Georgetown 54, Northern Iowa 49

Seven-foot-2 Roy Hibbert scored 17 points, and seventh-seeded Georgetown relied on its clampdown defense for the win.

No. 10 seed Northern Iowa (23-10) had no one to match up with Hibbert, who went 8-of-10 from the field and had nine rebounds before fouling out with 1:11 to go.

The Hoyas (22-9) will play Ohio State on Sunday.

Arizona 94, Wisconsin 75

Behind tough defense and outstanding shooting, the eighth-seeded Wildcats had little trouble against No. 9 seed Wisconsin.

Mustafa Shakur had 17 points and nine assists, Hassan Adams scored 21 and Ivan Radenovic added 18 for Arizona (20-12).

Villanova 58, Monmouth 45

Pushed by a pesky Monmouth team aiming to pull off an unprecedented upset, the top-seeded Wildcats (26-4) prevailed. Allan Ray returned from a scary eye injury to score 19 points, Randy Foye added 17 points and the Wildcats advanced to play eighth-seeded Arizona.

Washington Regional

Connecticut 72, Albany, N.Y. 59

Marcus Williams scored a season-high 21 points and Denham Brown added 17, helping top-seeded Connecticut (28-3) overcome a 12-point, second-half deficit to beat 16th-seeded Albany.

A No. 16 seed has never beaten a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Albany (21-11) led 50-38 points 8 1/2 minutes into the second half, before the Huskies went on a 20-4 run.

George Mason 75, Michigan St. 65.

Eleventh-seeded George Mason (24-7) used hot shooting, a balanced attack and a surprising rebounding superiority to upset sixth-seeded Michigan State. Folarin Campbell scored 21 points for the Patriots.
