The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team was swept by top-seeded Murray State in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament Thursday.
The No. 8 Redhawks were defeated 25-17, 25-19, 25-19, which ended their season with a record of 11-20.
The Racers opened the match with a 9-1 run. Southeast never came within six points of MSU.
The second set was tied at 8-8 before Southeast went on a 7-1 run for a 15-9 lead.
Three Racers kills and a block pulled MSU within two points and forced a Southeast timeout.
A kill and back-to-back blocks put the Racers ahead for good.
Southeast cut it to 21-19 before MSU rattled off four unanswered points for the win.
In the third set, the Racers took the lead for good when it broke a 2-2 tie.
Southeast senior outside hitter Andrea Baylin led the Redhawks with six kills and 13 digs while junior middle blocker Taylor Masterson finished with five kills and five blocks.
Murray State's Alyssa Lelm hit .611 in the match and finished with 13 kills. Kristen Besselsen had 15 kills.
The Racers advanced to the semifinals to face No. 5 Tennessee Tech.
