NAYLOR — The Poplar Bluff Mules scored nine runs in the top of the second inning and never looked back as they rolled to a 15-1 win over the Naylor Eagles Tuesday.

Leading 1-0 after one inning, the Mules (3-4) kicked off their big second-inning rally as Myles Johnson and Aiden Dawes scored on a pair of passed balls to make it 3-0. Kayson King followed that up with a double that scored Dylan Hall and Kolby Greenwall to make it 5-0.

King then scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0, while Noah Spain scored on another passed ball to make it 7-0. Dylan Bratcher singled home Bennett Lacy to make it 8-0, then David Durbin’s hit plated Marcus Tabanera for a 9-0 edge. Johnson then scored his second run of the inning when Durbin’s single was misplayed to cap the rally.

Durbin, King and Spain each had two hits on the day, while King drove in two runs.

Bratcher earned the win on the hill, striking out six while allowing five hits, one run and two walks in four innings of work.

Brock Woolard and Cameron Sarabia each had two hits for the host Eagles.

Mules, Lady Mules shine at Rebel Relays

At Park Hills, the Poplar Bluff Mules and Lady Mules track and field teams got the season off to a strong start Monday at the Rebel Relays, with the boys winning and the Lady Mules taking second.

On the boys side, Collin McBride won both the 200 (23.14 seconds) and 400 (53.48), while Spencer Nunn won the 110 hurdles (16.68), Jeridon Young won the shot put (43 feet, 4 inches) and Isaiah Nevel won the high jump with a jump of an even six feet.

The Mules relay teams also had a great day, as the 4x100 (45.07 seconds), 4x200 (1:35.06) and 4x400 (3:40.22) relay teams all won.

In addition, A’tari Amos took second in the long jump (20 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and third in the 100 (11.45 seconds), while Nunn took second in the 400 (53.73) and the pole vault (an even 13 feet) and Darius Graham placed third in the triple jump (41 feet, 4 1/2 inches)

On the girls side, Samantha Dowd won both the 100 (12.53) and 200 (26.09), while Koryenna Williams came in second in both (12.97 and 26.46 seconds, respectively).

Two of the girls relay teams — the 4x100 (52.19 seconds) and 4x200 (1:48.80) both won the meet, while the 4x800 squad (11:41.71) finished third.

Wren Cotrell took third in the 3200 (13:40.90), while Rachel Hamann finished third in the pole vault (an even seven feet) and Kennedy Zgaynor placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 109 feet, 8 1/4 inches — a school record.

Mules take second at Sikeston

The Mules boys golfers shot 323 as a team to take second at a quad in Sikeston on Monday. Jackson won the meet with a score of 311, while Dexter shot 340 and host Sikeston shot 376.

Lawson Barks shot a 73 to earn medalist honors, while

Caiden Luke carded an 82, Nolan White and Corban Thomas each shot 84, Andrew Miller scored an 86, Kole Bader carded a 96 and Cameron Jackson finished at 100.
