The Poplar Bluff High School cheerleading team hit the road last weekend for the St. Louis MCCA Regional where they took fifth place in the 5A Small Division.

Cheer coach Bri Jones said the Lady Mules squared off against seven other teams in total.

“It was our debut year in the 5A Division, presenting us with the challenge of maximizing our scoring on the rubric,” she said.

Jones said even though they didn’t finish where they wanted, it was a “stepping stone” going forward.

“Our journey contiues and we’re excited to showase the incredible effort team has put in since July as we compete in the umpcoming MCCA Regionals in Kansas City next weekend,” she said.

The Poplar Bluff Junior High finished fourth in its division.

Neelyville finished second in its division as the Lady Tigers and Doniphan are also headed to state.
