St. Vincent 8, Meadow Heights 6
The St. Vincent Indians defeated the Meadow Heights Panthers 8-6 on Thursday in the Oak Ridge Tournament at Meadow Heights High School.
The offense of the Indians was led by senior Trevor Moonier who went 2-4 with an RBI while coming around to score twice. On the mound for St. Vincent, senior Blake Monier went six innings with five strikeouts with only one walk.
The Panther offense was led by sophomore James Miller who went 2-4 with two RBIs, junior Ransom Grindstaff saw six innings of work striking out five batters and walking two.
St. Vincent advanced to take on Woodland in the tournament semifinal round on Friday at 4:45 p.m. in Meadow Heights, while the hosting Panthers will play Leopold on Friday at 3 p.m., with an appearance in the consolation final at stake.
__Woodland 7, Leopold 2__
Woodland defeated Leopold 7-2 on Thursday in the Oak Ridge Tournament at Meadow Heights High School.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the first inning off a double by Seth Abernathy.
Woodland added three runs in the third inning thanks to Jason Cureton, Colton Jordan, and Brayden Hastings.
Woodland starting pitcher Kiren Lindley went 2.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits five strikeouts and one walk.
Leopold starting pitcher Fred Brandel went four innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits, striking out three. Klete Beel went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Leopold in hits.
__Kelly 8, Scott City 6__
The Kelly Hawks defeated the Scott City Rams 8-6 on Thursday at Kelly High School.
The offense of the Rams was led by senior Christopher Venable who went 2-3 with three RBIs and came around to score. Junior Lawson Graff pitched for Scott City going five innings with 10 strikeouts to only four walks.
Scott City will compete in the Malden Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
__Oran 10, Advance 0__
The Oran Eagles defeated the Advance Hornets 10-0 on Thursday at Advance High School.
The offense for the Eagles was led by senior Luke Peterson who went 1-3 with three RBIs, sophomore Parker Bryant pitched six innings for Oran striking out 10 batters and walking three.
Oran will play Bloomfield at home on Friday.
__DeSoto 9, Perryville 2__
The DeSoto Dragons defeated the Perryville Pirates 9-2 on Thursday at DeSoto High School.
The offense of the Pirates was led by junior Elijah Derickson and sophomore Ty Peeler when Derickson drove in Peeler with a sacfly-turned error by the Dragons. Juniors Logan Hoehn and Tyler Jannin combined for six innings striking out a total of four batters.
Perryville will play at Notre Dame at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
